Taking it for a needle bushing change and using the engine seal kit is a good approach. Seeking opinions on the grinding machine is smart
. Finding the double lip and viton seal might be a challenge, but it's worth exploring. Welding and threading the Carter is a clear decision........
As for the inertia plate, your plan to restore it with a press and lathe sounds reasonable.
